The original logo, only used in Road and Track presents: The Need for Speed. Need for Speed became a video game series for the first time in 1997 when Need for Speed II released. The last game using this logo was Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 in 2002. The first video game using this logo is Need for Speed: Underground in 2003. The last game using this logo was Need for Speed: ProStreet in 2007
Need for Speed 2015 is just baffling, and it is a shame. There is a history at Ghost's fingertips; they haven't implemented the Rich history of Need for Speed at all well. Rivals lost the second EA thought 30fps would be a good idea. Personally, i don't think it's the end of the world being locked to 30fps.
Haven't enough experience to comment on 2015 yet; clearly not as basic as Rivals but not as twitchy as Payback. Payback menu system/upgrades/wrap (content)/performance tuning is a dumbed down version of 2015. Rivals is clearly still previous gen console thinking about how to do things.
