Congratulations on deciding to do your own oil changes. There is a bunch of info at www.f650.com concerning just about any phase of maintenance on the BMW 650 engine. An oil change is pretty simple but a bit messy due to the location of the oil filter.
Ohlins recommends about every 20,000 miles send in for an oil change and service. This depends on your riding style but is a good guide. F650 GS F650 GS-Dakar
Undo the drain bolt (10mm socket) and drain out the old oil. remove the forks. Once the oil is drained out, you can remove the forks from the bike. Using a 6mm hex wrench, loosen the pinch bolts on the lower fork brace. Remember your friend Mr. Gravity and hold onto the fork as you loosen the pinch bolts.
